System Requirements And Another Missing Portion

No, we’re not talking about the multiplayer (yesterday we talked about Mass Effect 3 skipping that one), we’re talking about the other CSD.

The “Mass Effect: Legendary Steam Edition” page shows what it takes for a re-release with Unreal Engine 3 :

Minimum system requirements :

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD FX-8350 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 760, AMD Radeon 7970 of AMD R9 280X, of beter
  • VRAM: 2GB
  • DirectX: DX11
  • Storage space: 120 GB available storage space

…and an Internet connection, because the use of Denuvo is almost guaranteed. To activate it, you must have an Origin client installed, not to mention that it also has an EA account.

Recommended system requirements :

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or better
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 / RTX 200 [sic!] [we assume they meant to write 2070 here, but that’s a real typo on Steam] or AMD Radeon Vega 56 or better.
  • VRAM: 4GB
  • DirectX: DX11
  • Storage space: 120 GB available storage space

However, the DLC called Pinnacle Station will be missing from the re-release of the trilogy. Mac Walters, director of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, told Game Informer that this DLC was developed by Demiurge and not BioWare. He added training material with holographic battle scenarios to the first Mass Effect. The reason why the PlayStation 3 version of the game was not released was because of the loss of the source code. The team did find a backup copy of the code, but discovered that it was corrupt and thus unusable.

“It’s going to take us another six months to get there with most of our team. I wish we could do that. Honestly, just because the team made everything it needed, it doesn’t mean we have to put it back together – all the single player content. So it was heartbreaking to leave it all on the cutting room floor,” Walters said. (The team is not alone: In 2019, it was confirmed that Blizzard’s Diablo II had lost not only its source code, but also most of its assets. Vicarious Visions, which recently joined Blizzard, has reportedly been developing a remake of Diablo II.)

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has a $150 collector’s edition available only in North America. It includes a full-size, backlit N7 helmet (see video below), canvas prints, morale receivers and an N7 letter receiver. Are you overlooking anything? What about the game itself? There is no disc in the steelboo…., nor is there a download code.

“The game itself is not part of Mass Effect’s legendary cache. But if you have it, you can put it on display in this high-quality metal game cache. And even if you don’t have it, the art on display is worth showing off,” reads the store. It’s a silly way to entice people to buy the game separately, when the package is supposed to hold it for their money.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released on May 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
